VICE PRESIDENT OF FINANCE

Position Summary

The Vice-President of Finance is responsible for the overall performance and operation of the finance division, including but not limited to accounting, revenue audit, purchasing, financial analysis, cage, count, forecasting, and reporting.  The VP of Finance is accountable for the coordination, preparation, and distribution of operating budgets and financial reporting.  Within the span of control is monitoring and analyzing financial results and performance, managing business unit cash and credit accounts, and maintaining departmental compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, government regulations, and internal controls.  The VP of Finance will provide ongoing review of labor costs and operating expenditures and assist in aligning those factors with Company goals and initiatives.

Essential Responsibilities: 

  1. Hires, motivates, trains, coaches, mentors, and directs staff to ensure that Team Members receive leadership, guidance and resources to accomplish established objectives.

  2. Establishes department standards, guidelines and objectives, and maintains other administrative processes such as budget and staffing to ensure proper planning and efficient operation of assigned areas.  

  3. Must have excellent communication skills and be able to communicate clearly in person, in writing, by telephone, and email to a diverse range of audiences. 

  4. Monitors payroll costs and processes to ensure proper allocations of resources. 

  5. Initiate and hold monthly P & L and budgetary meetings with property leadership.

  6. Coordinates and administers an adequate plan for the control of operations. Such a plan provides profit planning, sales forecasts, expense budgets, accounts receivable, cost standards, saving opportunities, capital investing, together with the necessary controls and procedures to execute the plan upon review and approval from corporate headquarters.

  7. Compares performance with operating plans and standards. Provides reports and interprets the results of operations to all levels of management. This includes the formulation of accounting policies, the preparation of financial statements, and operating data, the coordination of systems and procedures, and special reports as required by corporate headquarters.

  8. Forecasts short-range and long-range cash requirements and obligations, as a basis for maintaining adequate funds.

  9. Assures protection for the assets of the business through internal control, internal and external auditing, and ensuring proper insurance coverage.

  10. Provides other Company units with related information required by them to carry out their assigned responsibilities.

  11. Establishes and implements a sound operational and organizational plan in direct support of the business plan as approved by corporate headquarters.

  12. Executes cash disbursements for payment of corporate and divisional expenditures in accordance with disbursement policies as approved by corporate headquarters.

  13. Prepares monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial statements. Prepares all corresponding detail reports as required or requested.

  14. Coordinates, reviews, and responds to all internal and external audits. 

  15. Prepares data for the department operating budgets and acts on budget variance items.

  16. Approves complimentaries in accordance with Company policies.

  17. Maintains and submits required departmental reports to the VP of Administration.

  18. Monitors the day-to-day activities of the department(s) as subject to established Company policies.

  19. Reviews and approves department(s) invoices.

  20. Take on and manage various projects as assigned in order to aid in achievement of evolving company goals and objectives.

  21. Must be able to travel to all Company properties.

 

Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related plus seven to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, or equivalent, applications and menu-driven programs.

  • Must be able to formulate and communicate ideas and to make independent decisions.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain all licenses, certifications, and indemnifications requisite to the successful completion of all essential responsibilities.

  • Must meet or exceed all regulatory conditions stipulated for individuals holding this or similar positions.
