STAFF ACCOUNTANT I
Position Summary
The Staff Accountant will provide significant focus on advanced spreadsheets, creating journal entries and reconciliation. The Incumbent needs the ability to effectively manage accurate input of data into our various accounting and computer operating systems. Promotes positive public and employee relations.
Essential Responsibilities:
Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information in accordance with established Company Policy, State and Federal regulations.
Provides next-level guest service to internal and external guests.
Responsible for creating and fostering an environment of support and motivation for team members.
Maintains financial records by analyzing balance sheets and general ledger accounts.
Reconciles primary and subsidiary banking accounts.
Maintains general ledger through information gathering.
Provides financial status through special reporting or ad hoc projects as requested by Senior Management.
Prepares journal entries.
Assists in reviewing of departmental expenses.
Assists internal, external, and/or regulatory auditors. Maintains strict security and confidence of all records and reports.
Notifies Controller of any potential discrepancies or delays and researches and resolve problems.
Ensures compliance with Internal Control Policies and Procedures. Adheres to regulatory, departmental, and company policies in an ethical manner.
Audits and reconciles daily documents and report any deviations from established company policies and procedures. Performs daily audits accurately and efficiently in accordance to established policy and procedures and documents the results of the audit.
Adheres to all Internal Control Policies and Procedures, Bank Secrecy Act, Title 31 Rules and Regulations, and ensures company accounting procedures and reporting conform to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Resolves problems that are within the position's scope of authority and recommends courses of action to resolve problems that are beyond the scope of authority to the position’s supervisor.
Keeps position supervisor informed of relevant activities.
Ensures compliance with Internal Control Policies and Procedures. Adheres to regulatory, departmental, and company policies in an ethical manner.
Attend required training sessions offered by the Company.
Perform the duties described in compliance with local laws and regulations.
Have knowledge of the ordinances, regulations, laws, policies, and procedures relating to the team member’s department.
Take on and manage various projects as assigned in order to aid in achievement of evolving Company goals and objectives.
Take the necessary steps to ensure minors are not allowed to gamble or loiter in gambling areas, drink alcoholic beverages, or purchase tobacco.
Have knowledge of the ordinances, regulations, laws, policies, and procedures relating to the Team Member’s department.
Have knowledge of the Property’s programs to address problem gaming.
Report any acts of wrongdoing of which the Team Member may have knowledge.
Other duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications:
Must have a bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Alternately, a combination of education and experience may be considered. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, or equivalent, applications, and menu-driven programs. Knowledgeable in creating and analyzing spread sheets or similar data reporting. Must be able to formulate and communicate ideas and to make independent decisions.
Required competencies include initiative, advanced general math skills, time management, decision-making, communication proficiency and organizational skills. Strong oral and written skills.
Must be able to obtain and maintain all licenses, certifications, and indemnifications requisite to the successful completion of all essential responsibilities.
Must meet or exceed all regulatory conditions stipulated for individuals holding this or similar positions.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
